Truth About Red Wine

Red Wine
Many studies investigated the benefits of red wine suggested that moderate amount of red wine (one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men) lowers the risk of heart attack for people in middle age by ~ 30 to 50 percent. It is also suggested that alcohol such as red wine may prevent additional heart attacks if you have already suffered from one. Other studies also indicated that red wine can raise HDL cholesterol and prevent LDL cholesterol from forming. Red wine may help prevent blood clots and reduce the blood vessel damage caused by fat deposits. Indeed, studies showed that people from the Mediterranean region who regularly drank red wine have lower risks of heart disease.

Red wine is a particularly rich source of antioxidants flavonoid phenolics, so many studies to uncover a cause for red wine's effects have focused on its phenolic constituents, particularly resveratrol and the flavonoids. Resveratrol, found in grape skins and seeds, increases HDL cholesterol and prevent blood clotting. Flavonoids, on the other hand, exhibit antioxidant properties helping prevent blood clots and plaques formation in arteries.

The MODELS' Disorder
By Nadine KHALIL

ANOREXIC MODEL
Just because you’re a model it doesn’t mean you should be extremely underweight! Modelling agencies are recruiting models with a BMI of 16 and they say it’s okay...            Well I say it’s not.

The World Health Organisation considers a BMI (Body Mass Index) of anything less than 18.5 to be underweight, and they consider anything less than a BMI of 16 to be starvation.

Modelling agencies are hiring models with a BMI of 16, barely walking, for the sake of advertisement. What do u think modelling agencies are trying to say? That they are desperate they would hire anyone, or that they don’t even care about the extent these models are going through just so they can make themselves “model thin”.

Most anorexic models with a BMI of 16 suffer from malnutrition, a condition resulting from consuming too little food for the perfect catwalk.

Why do you think models go through this? Because they enjoy it? Or because they are seeking acceptance from agencies?

Modelling agencies are pushing these models to make themselves skinny by advertising lean models in the first place. Not knowing better, models of 13 years and older think that in order for them to be successful, they must turn themselves into skeletal beings.

Bulimia is an eating disorder. Someone with bulimia might binge on food and then vomit. A new study by the Model Health Inquiry reports that one in four models are struggling with hidden eating disorders such as bulimia. The most prevalent reason is low self image.

The modelling agencies are influencing models to become anorexic. A model with a BMI of 16 should not be hired to model, because she is considered at high risk of self-deterioration. I personally believe that hiring models with a BMI of 16 is an immoral judgement and should be reconsidered.
